Surgical Robotics Data Collection

OR and procedure capture for tool tip, endoscope, and teleop behaviors, with sterile-field rules and recovery tails a lab bench never sees.

Surgical robotics data collection captures the tool-tip, endoscope, and teleoperated procedure behaviors surgical platforms perform in real OR and procedure settings, with sterile-field constraints and the recovery tails that decide case safety. Operant scopes capture to your platform, procedure class, and access rules, with synchronized vision, proprioception, and force where the stack uses it. The result is surgical training data matched to the field of view and contact dynamics of the case, not a bench protocol.

Procedure tasks

Programs include tool approach, tip tracking under an endoscope, tissue or phantom contact, instrument exchange, and recovery from lost view or stalled motion. Concrete scenarios include laparoscopic phantom teleoperation and OR instrument handoff. Demonstrations are usually gathered as teleoperation capture. Bench liquid and labware work belong on laboratory automation data collection; an OR is a different cell, with sterile technique and procedure timing a hood never has.

Modalities

Endoscope and external cameras, joint state, and optional force streams are time-aligned through our multi-sensor synchronization service so tip motion and the visual field correspond. Capture follows the sterile and access plan agreed in scoping.

Tail behaviors

Lost view, unexpected contact, instrument slip, and aborted approaches are labeled through edge-case data collection so evaluation is not only clean phantom runs.

Safety and ops

Capture follows OR access, sterile-field, and consent rules agreed during scoping. We do not collect through live patient risk without an approved protocol path. Privacy and identifiable imagery follow the same discipline as our privacy and consent on-site guidance.

FAQ

Is this laboratory automation data? No. Surgical robotics data collection is procedure and field-of-view work in OR or procedure rooms. Lab pipetting and deck protocols are covered separately.

Can you capture on phantoms or trainers first? Yes, when that matches your evaluation path. Live OR capture is scoped only when access and safety allow.

This vertical is part of Operant's broader robotics data collection practice.
