Inspection Robotics Data Collection
Asset inspection capture for scan paths, defect views, and confined or elevated access—inspecting infrastructure, not building a jobsite.
Inspection robotics data collection captures the scan-path, viewpoint, and defect-finding behaviors robots perform on real assets, tanks, lines, structures, and plants, with the access, lighting, and occlusion that decide whether a crack or leak is visible. Operant scopes capture to your platform and asset class, with synchronized vision, pose, and the missed-view tails that matter for evaluation. The result is inspection training data matched to the asset you must cover, not a generic outdoor loop.
Inspection tasks
Programs include planned scan paths, close approaches to welds or flanges, thermal or RGB defect views, and recovery when a viewpoint is blocked. Layout, material handling, and build work stay on construction robotics data collection; inspection is about reading an existing asset, not placing structure. Factory contact assembly stays on industrial manipulation. Energy and oil-and-gas sites, pipes, tanks, flare pads, are scoped as inspection deployments when the robot's job is asset coverage, not a separate catalog page.
UAV and elevated access
When the program uses a UAV or elevated crawler, we treat flight or climb rules, standoff, and viewpoint planning as first-class scoping items. A representative aerial program is UAV bridge inspection; interior assets use confined-space pipe inspection. The H1 remains inspection robotics data collection; aerial access is a modality for reaching the asset, not a standalone “drone data collection” product page.
Modalities
Cameras, optional thermal, IMU or LiDAR, and pose are time-aligned through our multi-sensor synchronization service. Rough outdoor footing to the asset can pair with outdoor rough-terrain locomotion.
Tail behaviors
Glare, steam, occluded defects, aborted approaches, and incomplete scans are labeled through edge-case data collection so eval is not only a clear-day pass.
Safety and ops
Capture follows site induction, exclusion zones, and flight or climb permits agreed in scoping. We do not collect through live hot work or confined-space entries without approved procedures.
FAQ
Is this construction robotics? No. Inspection robotics data collection covers reading and covering an asset. Construction covers build, layout, and site navigation.
Do you only do UAV inspection? No. UAV is one access method. Ground crawlers, arms, and mobile bases are in scope when they match the asset.
This vertical is part of Operant's broader robotics data collection practice.
